AVON BREAST CANCER WALK

In 2004, my friend Lisa told me she was walking in the Avon Walk to raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness. She had an ambitious goal of raising $10,000. She asked me if I’d be interested in helping and I was more than happy to donate a couple of sets of jewelry. The complete story is in the below section – but let’s just say she busted through her goal last year.

In 2005, my friend Lisa told me that she was taking on an even bigger challenge. She decided to do ALL 8 Avon Breast Cancer walks and she set an even higher goal than last year. She pledged to raise $25,000 in 2005. I was so happy to hear this and told her that I wanted to help again this year. As we talked I had an idea - I would do one bracelet for each walk that she could put up on her site to auction off for more money. When I sat down to start making the bracelets, I decided to do each one a little different to keep in line with my goal to do mainly one of a kind pieces. I sent them off to Lisa and she's busy getting everything ready for this years auctions.

If you have a min, please check out her site lisawalk's. She's got Breast Cancer bears that have been signed by some awesome celebrities as well as many other cool things like my bracelets. Go on - get bidding - it's SUCH a worthy cause. I'd like to see Lisa break through her goal again this year. Let's help make that happen.

Here's a picture of the bracelets that I donated for 2005

Breast Cancer Awareness 2005

In 2004, a friend of mine in NYC asked if I'd like to do a piece of jewelry to raise money in an auction for the Avon Breast Cancer walk in NYC. This is something that I feel very strongly about, so I decided to do TWO pieces instead of just one. I wanted to incorporate the trademark color of pink into both pieces, but I also wanted them to be VERY rich in color. Something that kind of popped out to say, warmth, love and pride.

For the necklace I chose Rose Quartz, red tiger eye, sterling silver findings and pink crystals. I played with a couple different pendants until I found the one that made it "right" in my mind. This piece is a beautiful show stopper.

Then I decided to do a multi-strand bracelet to sell too. It also has the red tiger eye, but it's coupled with not only pink crystals and sterling silver findings, but beautiful glass beads too. It has just the right amount of sparkle to it.

Both of these pieces were offered through Lisa's site (below). She did a ton of fun things to raise money. Her goal was to raise $10,000 this year (which she did!) The auction is now over and the pieces I donated helped Lisa raise a total of $181.00 for this great cause.
